The Village Hall is the centre of village activities and provides an excellent range of facilities.
Maintenance, improvement and updating to statutory requirements are all managed by a committee.
The hall was founded as The Institute in 1911 thanks to village benefactor, Capt. George Dowglass.

The hall has a capacity for 150 standing or 100 seated.
There is disabled access and toilet.
A variety of table sizes are available, upholstered chairs and some chairs with arms.
Parking is limited with some road parking.
The kitchen is suitable for food warming and serving but not preparation. It is well equipped with ample crockery, glassware and cutlery. Tea towels are provided on a wash and return basis.
A snooker room has a full size snooker table for which keys may be obtained.
Stage lighting, film and audio equipment is of exceptional standard. Lighting and heating by coin meter.
The booking form and rental agreement are available from the Booking Clerk, Jenny Brown on 01548 562248. She maintains a hall-hire calendar/ booking chart.
Hall hire for parties or events is organised by sessions- Morning 9am – 1pm, Afternoon 1pm -6pm and Evening 6pm-11pm.
For regular village events the fee is £18 per session for the hall and kitchen.
The charge for other events, including all parties, is £25 per session.
Lights and storage heating are included but anything ‘plugged in’ such as the wall heaters, oven, audio-visual equipment are on a £1 slot meter.
This is housed in the porch, the door to which is kept unlocked. A list of contacts is posted alongside.
