Women's Institute

Eric Distin came along to our May meeting and we had a great evening showing him the interesting and varied items we had found or been hoarding in attics!  As always, he was happy to share his knowledge and give advice; he was particularly interested in the stories behind the items.

Our annual Coffee Morning was a huge success and thanks to all those who helped or supported it in any way.  We were able to send £60 to Open Hearts Open Borders and the total for our own funds was just under £295.  It was a lovely friendly morning which we all enjoyed.

By the time this newsletter goes out, we will have had a talk by Derek Bates on the history and mystery of Tai Chi which promises to be a fascinating evening.

Our July meeting on Thursday 18th will see us visiting Martin and Anita Berryman’s strawberry business.  Martin will tell us about the production and there will be lovely strawberries to buy.  We will meet there at 2.30: there is plenty of parking near the poly tunnel and we won’t have to traipse through muddy fields!  We will then go back to the Hall for a strawberry tea at 3.30 p.m.  If anyone would prefer not to do the farm bit, please just turn up at the Hall for the tea.  We need to know numbers so please let one of the committee know if you will be coming for all or some of the afternoon.

Hope to see lots of you at these events.  Please contact Lindy (560751) or Charlie for more information (561599).
