South Milton Villagea small working village in the South Hams of Devon
|Business Directory||Weather & Tides|
The Horticultural Show takes place on the first Saturday in August and alternates between the Village Hall in South Milton and the Parish Hall in Thurlestone (August 4 in 2018 in Thurlestone). There are classes for fruit and veg, cut flowers and potted plants, handicrafts, art, photos and children's entries.
The show is great fun, you can enter one class or 50 if you have the desire and the time! There are cups for the winner of some single classes, novice cups and silverware for the South Milton and Thurlestone residents who amass the most points across all the sections.
The annual show was restarted in 1979. Did you enter that first show? Did you win any prizes? Please let us know.
The show is organised by a committee made up of about 10 residents from both parishes. The planning for the year's show begins in January when the schedule of classes is put together. The schedule is usually first released at the plant sale held in May.
